I don't have a ton to say because this weekend I tried to tune out the media as much as I could. I did, however, watch Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama. I admired the endorsement because of how clearly and eloquently he made the case for voting for Obama over McCain. Probably the best I've yet heard, but does anyone really care about these endorsements? Does it really persuade anyone? My gut says, No. My gut tells me that it's just a way for people to feel important. You know what? Maybe I'll hold a press conference in my bedroom about how I'm endorsing Obama. How's that sound? I've been feeling a little low and a press conference just might be the remedy.
I also read this piece on The Daily Kos which was a real eye opener. It laid out how the GOP started planting their roots in the West nearly 30 years ago. How they figured out how to appeal to these people's guts through the topic of government land reclamation. "Big Government wants to take your land and next they're going to take your guns and your religion." The article goes on to state how the Dems in states like Montana have already started to use the same exact issue against the GOP as land formerly used to preserve wildlife and gaming is being sold off to the highest bidder and contaminated. Not to mention the Government has taken away our 4th Amendment Rights by spying on us, so what makes us think they won't take away our 2nd Amendment Rights. That's right, Dems, hit 'em right back in the gut!
Ultimately, what's most prominent on my mind-gut is the Philadephia Phillies. Is it just me, or does "Tampa Bay Devil Rays" sound a lot like "Toronto Blue Jays"? I know they're not technically the Devil Rays any more but who the hell DOESN'T call them the Devil Rays? I'm a Phillies fan and it was feeling like their year until now when it comes time to face an expansion team. Perhaps it's because I saw the movie "W." this weekend, and I'm a "gut-player", but something in my gut tells me this isn't going to go well. However, just like W.'s gut has been proven wrong again and again, I hope my gut is wrong too. At least Brad Lidge is no Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams.

Come on, Eldrick.
